MAGICAL MYSTERIOUS REGENERATION TOUR:
ARTISTS, ARCHITECTURE AND THE FUTURE OF THE CITY

A conference investigating the methods and meanings of art and urban regeneration in contemporary Liverpool and cities around the globe to celebrate Tate Liverpool’s 20th year on the Albert Dock.
       Tate Liverpool, the University of Liverpool’s Centre for Architecture and the Visual Arts (CAVA), the Department of Philosophy, University of Liverpool and Werk present an exciting two-day research event investigating the methods and meanings of urban regeneration in contemporary Liverpool and cities around the globe.
       Involving artists, architects, historians and cultural commentators in three overlapping discussion sessions, Magical Mysterious Regeneration Tour will provide a forum for critical debate on the purposes, benefits and costs of regeneration. A significant part of the conference will be the opportunity for delegates to take part in a selection of mystery tours of ‘regeneration’ sites in the city and its outskirts lead by artists who live and work in the city. Furthermore, part of the conference will be dedicated to a series of postgraduate research forum, providing a platform for new research in this area.
       Involving artists, architects, historians and cultural commentators such as Lara Almacegui, Will Alsop, John Belchem, John Davies, Nina Edge, Bill Harpe, Peter Leeson, Jonathan Meade, Ou Ning, Phil Redmond, Richard Williams, Raumlabor, Saskia Sassen and Imogen Stidworthy and Sarah Wigglesworth, among others.
